A crowd was on hand Saturday at ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the new townhouses at Tabor College. President Larry Nikkel led the presentation.

"We are here today to praise God for his blessings, and at the same time thank those through whom he has blessed us," Nikkel said.

The north hall of three adjacent student residences is named Hiebert Hall in recognition of gifts from the estates of the late Daniel Hiebert and his daughter, the late Ruth Hiebert.

The middle hall is named Loewen Hall in honor of Dr. Bill and Joyce Loewen of Wichita.

The south hall is known as Wiebe Hall in honor of Dr. David and Lorma Wiebe of Kearney, Neb.

The Loewens and Wiebes were on hand to cut the ribbon at their respective namesakes.

Total capacity of the townhouses is 72 students. At present, they have 68 occupants.

The complex includes nine residential units and three units for resident director, director's office, and guest apartment, as well as a storm shelter.

Six units have a capacity of 10 students, with five bedrooms on two stories, a full kitchen, laundry, study area, and living space. Three units house four students in two bedrooms on one floor, with the same amenities.

The townhouses are for juniors and seniors only.
