Tabor enrollment is up

Following a year marked by instability felt around the nation, Tabor College officials are reporting an increase in enrollment for the 2002-03 academic year.

The increased numbers and quality of the freshman class are encouraging, said Tabor president Larry Nikkel.

Up from 99 freshmen to 108 this year, the average high school grade point average is 3.40, and the average ACT score is 23.2. Seventy percent of this year's freshman class were in the top half of their high-school graduating class, and 20 percent of students were in the top 10 percent.

Although the freshman class numbers are promising, so are the numbers for total enrollment on the Hillsboro campus, which increased by five percent.

"These numbers are reflective of the quality of our faculty and the hard work of our admissions staff," said Nikkel. "I believe these new students see an opportunity for personal growth and professional preparation at Tabor that makes us very attractive."
