Tabor hires math, computer science professor

Randall Hess of Sterling has signed a contract with Tabor College to fill the position Lauren Lilly will be leaving in the mathematics and computer science department.
Hess most recently was employed at JACAM Chemicals in Sterling. Prior to that, he worked in information management technology at Raytheon Aircraft designing the new air traffic control system, and working on radios for communications programs.
From 1983 to 1997, Hess taught computer science and did information technology work at Indiana Wesleyan University.
"I'm excited about getting back into a position where I can use the knowledge I've learned in the industry to teach others," said Hess.
I feel like I've been eating the seed corn instead of planting it," he said. "I can contribute more by helping others to become computer professionals than by being in the industry."
Hess, his wife Vickie, and daughters Julia and Margo moved to Sterling last August when Vickie was hired as acting Vice President of Sterling College. Hess will commute in order to teach in the cooperative position for both Tabor and Bethel.
