Tabor homecoming activities start next week
Tabor College alumni and friends are invited to participate in Homecoming 2002 to be held Oct. 2 to 6.
Bebo Norman, a critically-acclaimed Christian recording artist, will kick Homecoming off on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Following his successful national debut with Ten Thousand Days, and his sophomore national release, Big Blue Sky, Norman released his third album, Myself When I Am Real, on Sept. 10. The concert, sponsored in part by KJRL 105.7 FM, will begin at 7 p.m. in the chapel-auditorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. General-admission tickets are $8, and group-rate tickets (10+) are $5. To reserve tickets, contact the Alumni Office at (620) 947-3121 ext. 1706. Seating is limited, so concert-goers are encouraged to purchase their tickets soon.
Four performances of Larry Shue's "The Foreigner" will be given by Tabor's Drama Department. The comedy will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at the Hillsboro High School auditorium. General-admission tickets are $8, and student tickets are $5. Reservations for all performances must be made by calling the Student Development Office at (620) 947-3121 ext. 1033.
The Homecoming Festival Golf Classic will begin Friday morning at Reflection Ridge in Wichita and will be followed by the Homecoming Festival Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Wichita.
Saturday morning activities include a MusicFest, featuring Tabor's musical groups, a 2-mile and 5K fun run, men's and women's alumni tennis matches, class reunions and a barbecue.
The Tabor women's volleyball team will take on St. Mary at 10:30 a.m. in the gymnasium, and the varsity football squad will challenge Kansas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. at Reimer Field. Coronation will take place during half-time activities.
An alumni soccer game will be played at 5 p.m., followed by the annual Dutch Supper. Alumni baseball players will come back for another night of home-field advantage as they take on the 2002-2003 baseball team. A noon buffet will be offered in the cafeteria on Sunday.
