Tabor homecoming is Oct. 18-21 years ago

Alumni, fans, and friends of the Tabor College Bluejays are invited to flock together for food, fun, fellowship, and, of course, football, during the Homecoming 2007 celebration, to be held Oct. 18-21 at Hillsboro and Wichita.

Whether you're in the mood for a musical comedy or a golf tournament, reunion groups or a football game against rival Bethel College, there's plenty in store for everyone.

Weekend highlights include the Tabor College production of the musical comedy "Honk!" The fun and pun-filled musical comedy based on the tale of the ugly duckling will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 18; 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20; and at 2 p.m. Oct. 21. All seats are reserved and seating is limited.

Ticket prices are $8.50/general seating, $5/students and $2.50 for children 4-11 accompanied by an adult. Reservations must be made by calling the Tabor College Student Development Office at 620-947-3121 ext. 1033.

The Tabor College band and choir will perform at 9 a.m. Oct. 20 in the Wohlgemuth Rehearsal Hall.

Also on Saturday morning, children's activities will be going on from 10 to 11:30 a.m. between the S.L. Loewen and Lohrenz Buildings. Elementary education majors are planning activities centered on the homecoming theme.

The public is invited to the dedication and tour of the new townhouse-style dormitories, from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. Oct. 20, in the townhouse courtyard located between the women's quad and the townhouses.

A traditional Dutch meal and other buffet items will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the college cafeteria. Reservations and prepayment for this meal are encouraged.

Menu items include: Hillsboro sausage, verenika, oven fried chicken, sliced ham and gravy, coleslaw, and pie for dessert. Advance meal tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for ages four to 10, under four free. Meal tickets not reserved in advance are $1 more.

Homecoming game festivities begin at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Reimer Field, as the candidates of this year's host and hostess will be introduced and the new host and hostess will be announced. The homecoming game between Tabor and Bethel begins at 2 p.m.

After the game, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the public is invited to the Homecoming barbecue supper at the college cafeteria. Reservations and prepayment for this meal are encouraged. Cost for advance tickets are $6.50 for adult, $3.50 for ages 4 to 10, and under four free. All meal tickets not reserved in advance are $1.00 more if purchased on Saturday.
