TABOR: Lady 'Jays salvage split with Oklahoma Wesleyan

The Jim Moore coaching era at Tabor might have gotten off to a slow start, but it at least he's got a pair of wins under his belt.

Dropping three of their first four games of the season, the young, victory-starved Bluejays picked a much needed win Monday afternoon in Hillsboro against the Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles.

Getting outscored decisively in their first four games while mustering a scant 11 runs, the Bluejays proved they're capable of racking up runs themselves against the Eagles.

Tabor put up 10 runs against OWU in the opener despite getting nudged 10-11.

If the Bluejays can put up runs like they did in the nightcap, the season will look bright.

Tabor got off to a quick start in the nightcap, eventually blasting the Eagles 13-5 for the Bluejays' second win of the season.

The Bluejays opened the season in hard fashion March 6 in Wichita against the Kansas Newman Jets.

Much like the weather was Tabor's hitting as the Jets picked up a sweep with 16-2 and 18-1 decisions, respectively.

Tabor bounced back two days later on its home field against Northern State, winning the first game 3-2 but tumbling the second, 5-8.

The Bluejays hosted the Central Christian College Lady Tigers Tuesday, but results were unavailable at time of publication.

Tabor faces a grueling road stand, playing its next 10 games away before returning back to Hillsboro April 5, for a doubleheader against St. Mary.

The Bluejays will compete Friday and Saturday in the McPherson Classic against an opponent at a time yet to be announced.

On March 21 and 22 in Sterling, the Bluejays play in the Sterling Tournament, then travel a week later to Kansas City, Mo., for the Avila Tournament.
