Tabor men receive KCAC honors

Four Tabor College men's basketball team members received KCAC honors on Tuesday, March 2, after the final post-season tournament game.

Tyson Ratzlaff, a senior from Hillsboro, was a unanimous All-Conference first team selection voted on by the ten KCAC head coaches.

The 6'1" guard/forward averaged 10.7 points per game and scored a total of 279 points this season. Ratzlaff led the Jays with a season total of 127 assists, 56 steals and 13 blocks.

Brad Gattis, a sophomore from Hesston, was named All-KCAC Honorable Mention.

The 6'5" forward/guard had an average 5.2 rebounds per game, totaling 161 on the season. Gattis averaged 10 points a game and ended the season with a total of 309 points.

Also named All-KCAC Honorable Mention was junior Anthony Monson, St. Paul.

Monson, a 6'6" forward/center, led Tabor in season points, scoring 320. He averaged 10.3 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.

The KCAC coaches also selected an All-Freshman team and an All-Defensive team again this year.

Jeremiah Randall, a senior from Mound City, was named to the All-Defensive team.

The 6'6" forward/guard totaled 129 rebounds on the season, 85 of those rebounds were defensive. Randall ended the season with seven blocks and 16 steals.

Leading the Jays to another conference title and berth to the NAIA National Tournament in Point Lookout, Mo., was KCAC coach of the year Don Brubacher.

In Brubacher's 22 years as head coach, the Bluejays have won 13 conference titles and received six National Tournament berths. At the conclusion of the KCAC tournament, Brubacher's career record stands at 338-258.

The 16-15 Jays faced No. 3 Albertson on Wednesday in the first round of the National Tournament.
