Tabor missions conference starts Feb. 16 years ago

The 2003 Tabor College Missions and Services Emphasis Week, Feb. 16 to 19, will feature a guest speaker, special worship services, a fair and food.

Featured speaker Dr. Robert Smith serves as an associate professor at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. There he teaches Personal Evangelism, Introduction to Sociology and most of the Urban Ministries classes. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he also coordinates the Urban Ministries major for the Missions Department and chairs the Department of World Missions and Evangelism.

Smith will speak during three sessions. The first, "Christ's Strategy of Mission," taken from Matthew 10:35-38, will begin Sunday, Feb.16, at 7 p.m. Smith will look at Luke 10:1-20 during the second session, "In This, Rejoice!" on Monday, Feb. 17, at 9:30 a.m. The third and final session, "Missions in the New Millennium," will be taken from Luke 5:36-39 and presented Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. All sessions will be held in the Tabor College Chapel-Auditorium.

A Missions and Service Fair will be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 17 and 18, in the Student Center. Representatives from various missions and service organizations will be available to answer questions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each supper served in the cafeteria Monday and Tuesday evenings will feature an international main dish.

The Wednesday morning worship service will be led by Lynn Jost, associate professor of biblical and religious studies. The message, based upon the Lord's Prayer, is titled "Give Us Our Daily Bread." It will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel-auditorium.

Students from the on-campus, student-led organization Share, Prayer & Dare will gather for a prayer concert and foot-washing ceremony in the Historic Church at 10 p.m.
