Tabor professor Regier honored with award
One of the business faculty members at Tabor College was presented with the highest post-secondary honor at the Kansas Business Educator Association (KBEA) state convention Friday, Oct. 18, at the Airport Hilton in Wichita.
Mary Regier, assistant professor of business education and office administration, received the 2002 Outstanding Post-Secondary Educator Award, an honor given in recognition of excellence in teaching and service to business education.
"This is a great honor for Mary and speaks highly of the program she has built at Tabor," said Dr. Don Isaac, professor of business administration and chair of the Business Administration department.
Educators must be nominated to be eligible for the award. Regier, nominated by a current student majoring in business education and office administration, also met the other requirements. Recipients must have taught business education for a minimum of 10 years and must be a member of KBEA.
Regier is currently responsible for the Business Education, Office Administration and Office Studies programs at Tabor College, including recruiting, retention, advising and teaching. A Tabor faculty member since 1990, she also serves as Tabor's National Association of Business Teacher Education (NABTE) representative.
KBEA has honored post-secondary educators with this honor since 1995. Regier, who earned her bachelor's degree at Tabor College and her master's degree at Wichita State University, is the first Tabor business faculty member to receive this award.
"I am truly humbled and honored to be named for this award," said Regier. "I personally know each of the previous recipients, each of whom is highly respected in our profession. This is a dream come true for me."
