Tabor signs three to men's soccer program

Tabor signed one Neosho County Community College transfer and two seniors from Andover Central High School to participate in men's soccer next season.

Ian Thomson, a student at Neosho County Community College, Chanute, signed a letter of intent to participate in the men's soccer program at Tabor College, according to head coach Lincoln Wulf.

The 6'2" goalkeeper served as captain as a sophomore at NCCC where the team ended the season 6-12. In high school, he was named Most Valuable Player his senior year, was a three-time letterman and a two-time team captain.

"Ian is a big, strong, fearless keeper who will bring experience in goal to Tabor soccer," Wulf said. "He is a raw talent who will definitely work hard to make us better next season."

In addition to goalkeeping, Thomson also has served as student body president and vice-president. He was named to the honor roll and was a Novice National Champion Lincoln Douglass Debate, a student ambassador and a youth soccer coach.

Thomson is the son of Jann Richard and Ed Thomson, both of Pittsburg.

Travis Buckley, a senior at Andover Central High School, also signed a letter of intent to participate in the men's soccer program at Tabor College, according to Wulf.

The 5'10" stopper/midfielder received First Team All-Chisholm Trail. The Andover Central team took third place in the South Kansas Regional 4A-3A tournament and ended the season 12-4.

"Travis is a very skilled player whose play making and passing abilities will fit in easily with our possession-style of play," said Wulf.

Buckley is the son of Mert and Connie Buckley, Wichita.

Tabor also signed Shawn Trask, a senior at Andover Central High School, to participate in the men's soccer program at Tabor College, according to Wulf.

The 6'1" midfielder/defender was named Second Team All-Chisholm Trail, and his 12-4 Andover Central team took third place in the South Kansas Regional 4A-3A tournament.

"Shawn has good size and is a very physical player," Wulf said. "With development of his game, he will be a strong force for us in the seasons ahead."
