Tabor tracksters compete Saturday at CCCC track meet
Warm spring temps greeted most of the Tabor College track and field team as they returned early from spring break to compete in the Cowley County Community College Invitational in Arkansas City last Saturday.
School record performances were turned in by two Tabor tracksters. Ashley Scherrer broke her own school record in the women's triple jump with an automatic NAIA national outdoor track meet qualifying jump of 37' 5". She placed second in the event. She also PRd in the long jump (17' 0") and placed second. Caleb Marsh eclipsed the pole vault record he set three weeks ago soaring 14' 1/2".
"It's really nice to see athletes come back from spring break who obviously were ready to compete," said head coach Dave Kroeker.
Other notable performances included Shelby Miller who placed third in the women's long jump (16' 6"), Matt Lynam who PRd in the 5000M, and Heidi Schmidt who placed fourth in the women's 1500M (5:15.95).
The meet included full teams from Cowley County CC, Allen County Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Hutchinson Community College, Fort Scott Community College, Butler Community College, and Southwestern College.
The next action for the Tabor tracksters will be Saturday, April 9, at Friends University.
