Tabor tracksters to NAIA indoor nationals
Four Tabor College athletes will participate in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn, from Thursday, March 3 through Saturday, March 5.
Matt Rorabaugh, a junior from Smith Center, will compete in the men's high jump. Caleb Stanton, a junior from Anaheim, Calif., will compete in the men's 60M dash along with Merle Johnson, a junior from Lee's Summit, Mo. Ashley Scherrer will represent Tabor in the women's triple jump competition.
All four had to meet the NAIA National qualifying marks in their respective events to be eligible for the Indoor Championships. Two of these athletes have previous national meet experience. Scherrer triple jumped at the indoor national meet last year as a freshman and Rorabaugh high jumped at the outdoor national meet last spring.
"This is quite an honor for these athletes. The hard work has paid off and now they have a chance to compete for a national championship in their event," said head coach Dave Kroeker. "I know they will all compete well."
