Tabor athletes compete at NAIA indoor track meet

Four Tabor College athletes qualified for and participated in the national NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Johnson City, Tenn., last week.

Ashley Scherrer, a sophomore from Limon, Colo., competed in the women's triple jump and finished 14th in the country with a personal college indoor best of 36'4".

Matt Rorabaugh, a junior from Smith Center, cleared 6'4" in the men's high jump competition and finished in 9th place.

Caleb Stanton, Anaheim, Calif., and Merle Johnson, Lee's Summit, Mo., competed in the men's 55M dash.

Head coach Dave Kroeker said, "It takes great effort and is a great honor for an athlete just to meet the qualifying mark to compete at the national indoor meet. None of our athletes focus on the indoor season as their primary season of competition so the fact that they made it is a real tribute to them.

"Also, being around these kids for five days straight just reminded me what a privilege it is to coach such fine young men and women. They train hard, they compete hard, and they represented what was the best about Tabor College athletics in how they treated each other, other competitors and the many people we came into contact with on the trip."

Hesston College to offer 3-on-3 basketball tournament

The first annual Hesston College Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday, March 26. The event includes eight divisions with each division guaranteed multiple games.
