Tampa: Large crowd attends soup supper, fun night

Prairie Pals invites all the women of the community to a soup supper at 6:30 p.m. Jan 28. Ross Bielefeld will share his experiences studying and traveling in Europe.
A good crowd turned out Sunday evening for the altar society's soup supper and fun night. Some of the group played Bingo for a variety of prizes. A step stool donated by Virgil Meyer was won by Teresa Tajchman for blackout. Others played pitch with Martha Melcher winning the high score prize for women and Sean Leihy for men. Jane Vajnar and Lawrence Svoboda took home the low score prizes.
Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna, Danny Denham, and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki.
Janie Rziha returned to Fort Hays State University Sunday after spending her Christmas break with her parents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie. Susie Rziha of Wichita was a weekend guest.
Jane Vajnar was among those attending an open house Sunday afternoon for Orpha Dirks at Goessel in celebration of her 90th birthday. Jane especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit with Dennis Unruh, who was one of her students back in the 1960s.
A number of Tampa people attended a potluck dinner following morning worship at the Durham Baptist church Sunday followed by the annual business meeting in the afternoon.
John and Pat Schwartzman of Salina visited Helen Schwartzman Sunday and all attended the soup supper and fun night.
Tony Young of Goessel visited Lois Sklenar on Saturday.
Helen Jean McGonigle and Larry Parsons of Wichita spent Saturday with her mother, Helen Schwartzman.
Becky Davis, Cecilia Rziha, and Jenna Tajchman competed Saturday in a quiz bowl meet at Council Grove. The regional meet will be held Jan. 31 at Centre High School.
Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed dinner in Salina Saturday.
Mildred Hamm, Eleanor Herbel, and Jane Vajnar attended the monthly meeting of King's Daughters Thursday evening at the Durham Baptist church. Donna Diener led the lesson, "Splash the Living Water." Betty Meier presented a mission study. The following were installed as officers for 2002: Edie Ollenburger, president; Valera Hamm, vice president; Dorene Joy, secretary; and Janice Kaufman, treasurer. Hostesses Christine Herbel and Janice Kaufman served refreshments and gave those present snowman decorations as favors.
Lutheran Women's Missionary League met Jan. 9 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Kathy Davis led the topic, "Pass the Light." Adeline Bernhardt led opening and closing devotions. Phyllis Mueller was hostess. Others present were Edna Backhus, Evelyn Hensley, Leona Kleiber, Joyce Medley, Betty Mueller, and Edna Mueller.
Fifteen members of the Sunflower Senior Citizens gathered Jan 8 at the senior center for their monthly potluck dinner and meeting. Tillie Hein and Martha Melcher were hostesses. After the business meeting, the group played card Bingo.
