Tampa News: Baptist church holds birthday supper

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna attended a spaghetti dinner in Herington Sunday. The event, sponsored by Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Aid Association for Lutherans, was a benefit to help Lisa with medical expenses.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended an adoption party at the Evangelical Free Church in Winfield Sunday afternoon. Lucille's niece and her husband, Debbie and Dennis Love, gave the party in honor of their newly-adopted daughter Danae. A short program was followed by lunch. Danae opened her gifts and cake and ice cream were served later in the afternoon. Many other relatives and friends were in attendance. Danae has an older sister, Danielle, who also is an adopted child.
Tampa people who attended the all-church birthday supper at the Durham Baptist church Sunday evening included Willis and Eleanor Herbel, Gus and Mildred Hamm, Jim and Myrna Hamm, Sara, Lucas, and Morganne, Robert and Jane Vajnar, and Kem and Autumn Chisholm, Steven and JuliAnne.
Greg Sklenar was a Sunday overnight guest of his mother, Lois Sklenar.
Family members helping Leona Kleiber celebrate her upcoming birthday with dinner at the café Sunday were Dean and Becky Routh, Allison, Melody, and Danielle of Augusta, Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik of Wichita, Jill Vinduska and Armondo Tarin of Manhattan, Terry and Cindy Vinduska, and Lynn Kleiber, Amanda and Nicholas. After dinner the group went to Leona's home. The family brought birthday cake and ice cream which were enjoyed after Leona opened her presents.
Paul and Edna Backhus were among those attending the benefit spaghetti dinner on Sunday for Lisa Hanschu in Herington.
Members of St. John's Lutheran Church enjoyed their annual hamburger fry Sunday evening.
Adeline Bernhardt spent last week visiting Barney, Linda and Megan Bernhardt of Wichita and Carl, Kathy and Clinton Hubbard of Wellington. The Hubbards and Adeline attended the homecoming parade and pep rally Thursday evening and the homecoming football game Friday evening between Wellington and Andover. Clint played on the winning Wellington team. Donna Hubbard, Kathy, and Adeline attended a baby shower Sunday afternoon for Dee Anna Stout of Wichita at the home of Marsha Renn in Wellington. Linda brought Adeline home Monday and they enjoyed dinner at the café.
Tillie Hein attended Old Settlers' Day in Marion Saturday.
Darlene and Ernie Kite of Bartlesville, Okla., spent the weekend here visiting Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan.
Lynn Kleiber, Andrea and Nicholas and Leona Kleiber went to Herington Saturday for a volleyball tournament at the high school. Amanda Kleiber was one of the players.
Ralph and Wanda Richmond of Marion and Paul and Edna Backhus went to Garden City Saturday to attend a retirement party for Tommy Cruse.

The eighth birthday of Anna Weber was celebrated the evening of Sept. 22 with a party in the park. Birthday cakes, ice cream, Kool-Aid, and tea were served to Anna, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James Weber, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer, Nikki Stenzel, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Paul and Edna Backhus, Marianne Wyatt, James Wyatt, Justin Deines, Karen and Carrie Carlson, Mikayla Antoszyk, Julie Deines, Dylan and Makenzie, Oaklan Jenkins, Meghan Leihy, Ryan Doherty, Kent and Dillon Whitehair, Kent Sly, Shaunna Paige, Kelci, Taylor, and Katlyn Sly, Jesse, Margret, and Becky Perry of Beloit, and Danny Denham. Games were played and the children enjoyed a piñata.
