The next meeting of the Tampa Community Association will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the senior center. Gary Schneider will be invited to attend to give information about any progress in his dealings with the United States Postal Service. Anybody in Tampa and the surrounding area who is interested in community improvement is welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity for those who wish to contribute to the expense of the association.

Around 25 people attended the meeting held July 29 to organize an association and exchange ideas. Carole Spohn chaired the meeting and agreed to serve as president of the association until the end of the year. "Communities don't get built by people sitting around saying, 'Somebody ought to do something,'" said Spohn. "We have to be the somebodies."

Other officers chosen were Kathy Davis, vice president; Dee Duggan, secretary; and Melissa Brunner, treasurer. Several other issues were raised and discussed.

A committee was formed to help find or build a facility to house a post office. Members are Tom Duggan, Walt Dietrich, the Rev. Clark Davis, Jim Clemmer, Reuben Kerbs, and Jesse Brunner. Anyone with ideas on this issue should talk to someone on the committee.

The group decided to allow people to put a message on the sign in front of the fire station for $2. This could be used to wish someone a happy birthday or anniversary, post a message of appreciation, or any other appropriate message.

Many felt the community needs an annual celebration and possibilities were discussed. A committee was formed to plan a celebration sometime in October. The date will be set after consulting the school calendar and other possible sources of conflicts. Carla Hajek will head the committee, assisted by Mary Ann Frantz, Rita Brunner, Lori Moldenhauer, and Kathy Davis. This committee also is open to ideas from residents.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska, Ruby Vinduska, and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner at the café Sunday in celebration of Terry and Cindy's wedding anniversary.

Residents of the Tampa community enjoyed an ice cream social Sunday evening in the park. The children and some of the adults enjoyed games such as a water balloon toss and a three-legged race. The children broke a piñata. The free-will donations will be used for community projects.
