Tampa News: Pakistan missionaries speak at church

A funeral service for Ruby Moffitt was held Tuesday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Moffitt had lived here a number of years before entering the Hillsboro Community Medical Center's long-term care unit. Her family has the sympathy of the Tampa community.
Stephanie Claasen of Marion, Eleanor Murphy, and Martha Melcher were Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman.
Most farmers in the area are harvesting wheat now. Some began late last week, while others got into their fields this week.
Brian Bina of Marion and Cecilia Rziha were awarded the first annual Father Emil Kapaun Memorial Scholarships. They will each receive $400 plus a biography of Father Kapaun.
Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion.
Greg Sklenar of Wichita was a Sunday visitor of his mother and sister, Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton.
Dale and Sandy Clemmer visited his parents Jim and Mary Clemmer on Sunday.
Some Tampa people attended the Durham Baptist church Sunday evening to hear missionary speakers, Dwight and Laurel Richardson. The church has helped support the Richardsons' mission efforts in Pakistan for a number of years. Because they have been unable to get permission to re-enter Pakistan, they will now be serving in India.
John and Pat Schwartzman of Salina spent Sunday with his mother, Helen Schwartzman.
Randy Hamm of Leawood spent a long weekend with his parents Gus and Mildred Hamm to help with wheat harvest. Dave and Sharon Schrag, Layne, Ross, and Payden of Lindsborg joined them Saturday.
Adeline Bernhardt spent Friday through Sunday in Wichita with Barney and Linda Bernhardt and Megan. All attended the Wranglers-Frisco baseball game Friday evening at Dumont Stadium with a group from St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. They joined other friends and relatives Saturday evening at a lawn party at the home of Carl and Kathy Hubbard and Clint in Wellington.
Rustyn Kerbs was honored with a party at the home of his parents Russ and Julie Kerbs Friday evening in celebration of his 10th birthday. Guests enjoyed pizza and birthday cake. Featured entertainment was the Rustyn's Birthday Cup B-puck Championship Tournament. B-puck, a game invented by Rustyn, is played with a tennis ball and takes its inspiration from basketball, hockey, and soccer. Guests included Ashton Kerbs and Jesse Smith of Salina, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, Aaron Bina, Cole Svoboda, Casey Kristek, Tanner Brunner, Brody Jackson, Tyler Klenda, Jacob Jirak, Nicholas Kleiber, Adam Matz, Brian Burhoop, and Benjamin Wirtz.
Supper guests of Paul and Edna Backhus June 18 were John and Mary Katherine Lorei of Highland, Calif., Don and Ophelia Jacobson of Hope, and Phyllis Mueller. The Loreis are cousins of the former "Rhode girls."
