Tampa Rural High School class of 1949 observes reunion years ago

The class of 1949 of Tampa Rural High School, along with spouses and friends, celebrated its 55th class reunion Saturday while eating at the Tampa hog roast.

Class members met at 4 p.m. at Tampa Senior Center for visiting and snacks.

Class members attending were Paula and Warren Fike of Ramona.

Dorothy and Norman Ensz and LaVada and Lewis Hagen, all of Hillsboro.

Jerry and Marge Carver and Alfred and Lila Gooding, all of Topeka, Deloris Kerbs of Salina, Phyllis Mueller of Tampa, and Dolores Backhus of Kansas City.

Unable to attend were Helen Jean McGonigle of Wichita, Betty Ann Mason of San Diego, Calif., Pat Westerhaus of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Florence Scanlon of Laguna Hills, Calif. Wilma Nunn is deceased.

Others invited were: From the class of 1950, Lola (Popp) Wara and husband from White City.

From the class of 1948, Willis and Eleanor Herbel of Tampa and Ophelia (Rhode) Jacobsen of Hope.

Also attending were guests Robert Smith of Marion, Norma Cabeen of Hillsboro, and Lawrence Mueller and Betty (Popp) Mueller of Tampa.
