Thefts occur at college campus
Hillsboro Police Department investigate numerous thefts at Tabor College that were reported Nov. 27.
Nov. 26: EMS received assistance with a call in the 700 block of East A Street. A dog complaint was filed in the 500 block of South Main Street. A complaint was made of individuals obstructing traffic in the 400 block of South Adams Street. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department with a fire run at Tabor College.
Nov. 27: Response was provided to a complaint of two skunks that were trapped in a pond behind a residence. Marion County Sheriff's Department received assistance with an investigation. A dog complaint was made in the 300 block of South Birch Street. Individuals were fingerprinted for employment purposes. A complaint was made of individuals on the roofs of downtown businesses. Brandon Chinn reported the theft of a Sony Playstation 3 that day from his dorm room at Tabor College. The loss was estimated at $1,500. Stephen King reported a theft of an Apple iPod from his college dorm room. The theft occurred sometime on Nov. 13. The loss was estimated at $300. Robert Giles reported the theft of $100 from his college dorm room sometime on Nov. 13. The loss was estimated at $300. Garrett Bryant reported the theft of several keys from his property while he was at Tabor College gym. The theft occurred sometime that day and was estimated at $68. Christopher Waldrop reported the theft of his wallet and debit card from his college dorm room. The debit card was used at various locations in Marion, McPherson, and Harvey counties. The loss was estimated at $1,500.
Nov. 28: A civil complaint about property was made in the 100 block of South Main Street. A littering complaint was filed in the 100 block of North Ash Street. A funeral escort was provided. A motorist received assistance in the 100 block of South Main Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of South Birch Street.
Nov. 29: A license for door-to-door sales was approved. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes.
Thursday: A complaint about a dog was filed on Willow Road. A civil complaint was made in the 300 block of South Main Street. Animal welfare concerns were made in the 300 block of North Birch Street. Newton Police Department received assistance with an investigation. A 48-year-old Marion man was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail for DUI at Ash and C streets.
Friday: Ruth Winter of 222 N. Lincoln, reported the theft of a Santa Claus yard ornament from her yard which occurred sometime on Nov. 28. The loss was estimated at $30. Civil assistance was provided in the 400 block of North Ash Street.
Saturday: A verbal domestic disturbance was reported in the 700 block of South Washington Street. An officer returned a second time to the same address for another verbal dispute. Assistance was provided to the sheriff's department with an accident. A telephone harassment complaint was made in the 700 block of South Washington Street.
