Thieves take copper from rural residents

Between Sept. 11 and 12, someone entered the property on 140th Road, Hillsboro, and stole approximately 45 pounds of copper from the residence. Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez reported the copper was valued at approximately $110.

At 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9, Sergeant Soyez stopped a vehicle at 190th and Old Mill Road for traveling left of center. During a roadside investigation, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. The driver and two passengers were arrested. Two of the suspects later were found to be in possession of marijuana in dorm rooms at Tabor College.

At 10 a.m. Oct. 11, an individual reported someone had endorsed three checks that were issued to the victim and suspect. The case is being investigated by Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

An individual was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 2, following a car accident for driving with a suspended driver's license. Deputy Larry Starkey made the arrest.
