Tomahawks suffer two losses on the road

PBJH Tomahawks hosted Hutch Trinity Monday and were defeated 42-29. The team traveled to Inman Thursday and lost, 31-27. The team now is 5-3 and prepares for a home game against Berean.

Tomahawk defensive pressure held Hutch Trinity to eight points in the first period. The offense struggled and only managed two baskets. Martin Hofkamp and Seth Alstrom each had two points. They were down by four at the end of the quarter, 8-4.

Hutch Trinity went on an 18-3 run in the second period. Aaron Topham scored two and Jacob Simmonds added a free throw. PBJH was down 26-7 at the half.

Tomahawk defense held Hutch to six in the third quarter. The offense added 10, but the gap was 32-17 at the end of the period. Isaac Burnett, Topham, Simmonds, Alstrom, and Hofkamp each had a basket.

The offense outscored Hutch 12-10 in the fourth quarter. Simmonds had four while Brian O'Neal, Alstrom, Burnett, and Topham each added two. PBJH could not narrow the gap and lost, 42-29.

Against Inman, the Tomahawk offense struggled early, managing only a basket by O'Neal. Inman put up seven and the gap was five at the end of one, 7-2.

PBJH played better against the Inman defense and put in nine points in the second period. Simmonds had three and Hofkamp, Alstrom, and Sean Jones each had a basket. Tomahawks defense held Inman to six. The squad closed the gap to two at the half, 13-11.

Tomahawk offense was answered basket for basket in the third quarter by Inman. Simmonds paced the team with six. Topham added a basket. At the end of the period, PBJH was down 23-19.

The Tomahawks got as close as two in the fourth but couldn't get any closer to the league-leading Inman team. Topham had four points in the quarter. Simmonds and Alstrom added a basket each.

The Tomahawk B-team lost to Hutch Trinity, 38-18. Clint Jones led scoring with five. Sean Brunner added four. Caleb Hilliard and Joseph Lopez had three each. Sheldon Wiebe had two and Abe Eldridge added a free throw.
