Peabody-Burns Junior High football team ended the season Thursday with a home victory against Remington, 14-12. The team finished with a 2-5 record.
A Tomahawk errant snap on a punt set up the first Colt score. Remington took over at the PBJH 10-yard line and took it in for the score.
PBJH answered with a drive that ended with a 25-yard touchdown run by Jacob Simmonds to tie the game. Isaac Hilliard ran the two-point conversion and the Tomahawks took the lead, 8-6.
After the half, the Tomahawk offense went on an eighty-yard drive that burned five minutes off the clock. It ended with a Simmonds eight-yard run. The PAT failed, but the Tomahawks led 14-6.
Remington capitalized on a Tomahawk mistake and scored again late in the contest, to cut the lead to 14-12.
The Tomahawk offense converted a key fourth down at the end of the game to keep the Colt offense off the field.
Defensive highlights included a first-half fumble recovery by Hilliard and a second-half interception by Seth Alstrom.
