Top cross country recruit signs at Tabor

The top female cross country recruit has signed a letter of intent to run at Tabor College next year, according to head coach Karol Hunt.

Heidi Schmidt, a senior at Oklahoma Bible Academy, Enid, Okla., lettered and earned all state honors each of her four years at OBA. She placed first as a freshman in the state cross country meet, then third as a sophomore and fourth her junior and senior years.

As a team, OBA won state her freshman and sophomore seasons.

"Heidi is my top female recruit this year, and I am extremely pleased that she has chosen to attend Tabor," said Hunt. "She is coming in with a wealth of experience and will have an immediate impact on the women's team.

"The thing I like about Heidi is that she is highly interested in pursuing a degree and being involved in service opportunities in addition to the running."

Schmidt is currently an honor student at OBA.

She is the daughter of Garvie and Diane Schmidt of Enid and the granddaughter of Eldon and LaVonne Wiens of rural Hillsboro and Ruby Schmidt of Hutchinson.
