Tough breaks continue for Legion team
McPherson sweeps
Hillsboro baseball team
Hard luck continued to pile up for Hillsboro American Legion Post 366's baseball team June 23 as they dropped a pair to visiting McPherson in a rematch, 16-2, and 13-7.
Highlights were sparse for 366 in the opener with McPherson exploding to break the game open in the top of the third with seven runs and the eventual nine in the fourth.
Like the season within itself, protecting leads has been difficult for Hillsboro (2-11) as it squandered a 4-0 lead after the finale's first inning.
McPherson doubled 366 in scoring in the top of the second off six hits, an error and a walk, allowing 366 to get no closer than three runs.
Two days earlier in Lyons, Post 366 fell to 2-9 on the season, falling 9-6 in a nine inning game.
Post 366 will be in action tonight when it hosts Herington at 6 p.m. at Memorial Field.
