Trojan girls lose opener
The young Trojan girls' basketball team lost 45-36 Tuesday to a physically strong and more experienced Chapman team in the Dickinson County Classic pre-season basketball tournament.
The Trojans got balanced scoring with sophomore JuliAnne Chisholm netting 14 points; senior Amy Duerksen, nine; and sophomore Hannah Marsh eight.
"We didn't look bad for our first game," said head coach Becky Carlson. "We dug ourselves in a hole and it was hard to get out of it."
The Trojans were 5-of-18 from the free throw line.
"We looked good once we settled down," Carlson said. "We have lots of potential."
The Trojans play Rock Creek at 6 p.m. Friday at Chapman. The first home game will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Wichita Collegiate.
