Trojans capture Circle quad

Kyle Kroeker and Macy Fadenrecht took first place Thursday in their respective divisions, as the Hillsboro High School tennis team won the Circle quad.
Peter Fast, Robert Jost, Ric Johnson, and Clay Shewey combined for two second-place doubles finishes, and the Trojans racked up 22 points to defeat second place Valley Center by two points.
Kroeker, playing in the number one singles bracket, won his first two matches 8-0. He was tested in the championship match, but still prevailed, 8-5.
Fadenrecht cruised through his competition with 8-0 victories in the first two rounds as well. Jenz Van-Lier of Circle was the first player to score on Fadenrecht, but the Trojan still prevailed, 8-2.
Number one doubles partners Fast and Jost took second, with a 1-2 record. Johnson and Shewey finished second with a record of 2-1. The number two duo lost its first match, 8-6, to Valley Center, but bounced back for two victories to claim second place.
The Trojans will be in action Tuesday at the Hesston invitational.
