Trojans net success on tennis court

Amanda Farber finally got a first-place finish for the Hillsboro High School tennis team.
So far this season the Trojans had some respectable third and fourth place finishes, but Farber earned the first victory Thursday with a 8-2 victory against Claflin's Samantha Hickel.
Head coach Lynn Wiebe was pleased with Farber's performance.
"She did a good job of mixing things up with deep drives to the corners and then a little chip shot just over the net," she said. "She played all aspects of the game very well."
Lora Andrews and Danielle Hagen played the number one doubles for Hillsboro and finished a respectable fourth.
The duo won its first match but fell in the second round.
As a team the Trojans took fourth after fifth-place finishes from number two single Lauren Just, and number two doubles, Audrey Weinbrenner and Greta Wiebe.
After losses in the first round, both came back to win the consolation bracket.
Wiebe was happy to see the team continually working on turning up the intensity.
Junior varsity
The Trojan junior varsity team defeated Hesston 9-0 and Sterling 8-1 Thursday at a triangular.
Chelsey Harmon, Tessa Simpson, Julia Loewen, Anna Woelk, Maria Loewen, Kelsey Bartel, and Clara Ens all participated in the meet.
