Trojans win at home
The Hillsboro high School varsity boys added another in the win column by defeating Nickerson, 69-43, Tuesday night on their home court.
Tyler Peachey had a game high 26 points followed by Eric Weinbrenner, who scored 15.
Peachey hit two three's, had four steals, and four assists
Weinbrenner hit three three-pointers, had five steals, and three assists.
Other scorers for the Trojans were Daniel Deckert with eight points, Aaron Yoder with seven, Caleb Marsh with five, and Derek Hamm, Adam Scheele, Kyle Jilka, and Lucas Hamm with two each.
Leading rebounder was Hamm, who pulled down eight rebounds.
The team was 60 percent from the free throw line making 12 of 20.
They were 67.7 percent from the two-point range making 21 of 31.
The Trojans are now 12-2 for the season and 6-1 in league play.
The varsity will travel to Ellinwood Friday to take on the Eagles and will be in action on Tuesday at home against Lyons.
Junior varsity
The Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team defeated Nickerson, 61-35.
At half-time Hillsboro led 22-13.
All 11 Trojan players scored in the game.
Leading the way in scoring for the team were Chad Hughbanks with 10 points followed by Justin Moore, Tim Funk, and Wade Weibert with eight each, Macy Fadenrecht with seven, and Lucas Hamm with six.
Other scorers were Adam Scheele and Tyler Kaufman with four points each, Nate Holmes, Clinton Schneider, and Peter Fast with two each.
The team will play at 5 p.m. Friday at Ellinwood.
Frosh
The Hillsboro High School freshmen boys' basketball team defeated Nickerson Tuesday at home, 52-39.
Hillsboro led at the half, 35-12.
Scoring for the team were Tyler Kaufman with nine points, Michael Suderman and Lucas Hamm with eight each, Nate Holmes and Alex Nuss with six each, Aaron Stepanek with five, Troy Frick and Darren Enns with four each, and Sean Leihy with two.
