TV personality Hatteberg to speak at commencement
Excitement is rising as approximately 140 Tabor College students from both the Hillsboro and Wichita campuses expect to take part in upcoming commencement activities.
The ninety-third commencement ceremony will take place in the Tabor College Gymnasium on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m., with a symphonic band concert beginning at 9:15 a.m.
Larry Hatteberg, a well-known television anchor and photojournalist from Wichita, will be the featured guest speaker.
Hatteberg is one of the prime-time co-anchors of KAKE Channel 10's weekend newscasts. He also hosts the national award-winning series "Hatteberg's People," the longest running telsevision feature in Kansas. Hatteberg has published two books and released videos based upon the series.
Throughout his 30-plus years in the television industry, he has been a film lab technician, photographer, chief photographer, assistant news director, executive news director and prime time co-anchor of KAKE News at Five.
In addition to over 90 local, state and national awards for television news photography and reporting, he has been honored with a regional "Emmy" from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for lifetime achievement and the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Writing. He has twice been named the National Press Photographers Television News Cameraman of the Year.
