The Goessel High School golf team competed on Monday in the 1A-2A regionals at Pretty Prairie. Zac Church and Ben Schmidt both shot scores of 86 that just qualified them for state finals next Monday. Jeremy Miller finished with an 89, Kelcy Voth 99, Kent Peters 101, and Tyler Huntley 113.

Goessel was hoping to qualify the team for state, knowing that Pretty Prairie would be tough on their home course, but hoping to beat Burrton. Only the top two teams sent the whole team to state.

Central Christian pulled a mild upset by posting the best team score of 349, Pretty Prairie 355, Goessel 360, and Burrton 362.

Tee times for Church and Schmidt will be determined this week as they prepare to play at McPherson on May 20 at the Turkey Creek Course on the south edge of town.

The team place third at the Heart of America league meet held at Carey Park in Hutchinson.

Miller led the Bluebirds and continued to play well and came in with an 84, the fifth best individual score.

Goessel's team score was 364, trailing Pretty Prairie 343, and Burrton 354, and tying Central Christian.

"Jeremy Miller has finished in the top 10 individuals in every meet this year," said Coach Troy Kemling.
