Two Hillboro men stabbed after argument

Two Hillsboro men were stabbed last Wednesday night after an argument on North Jefferson Street, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.

Michael D. Harvey, 309 N. Jefferson, stabbed Joseph Bauer four times after chasing him across the street. The two had been arguing at Harvey's house.

Bauer was stabbed twice in the back, once in the left side of his ribcage, and once under his left armpit, said Officer Chad Funk. Funk was called to the scene at 10:12 p.m.

Also at the house were Derek Hoskinson and Dustin Shiplet. Hoskinson ran across the street to try to stop Harvey, and Harvey stabbed him twice — once in the left abdomen, and once on the left side of his neck, Funk said.

Both men were transported to the Hillsboro Community Medical Center in private vehicles. Hoskinson was treated and released, while Bauer was admitted to the hospital and treated for a collapsed lung. He was released Tuesday.

Harvey was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail. He now awaits charges of felony aggravated battery, said Police Chief Dan Kinning.
