U.S.-50 near Indigo open
The stretch of U.S.-50 from Walton to Indigo is open to traffic for those traveling to and from Hillsboro.
According to construction manager of the Kansas Department of Transportation in Marion, Brice Goebel, the decision was made not to have the construction crews working on the highway during the Kansas State Fair, the Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair, and Marion Art in the Park.
"We still have some repairs to be done on the highway by Indigo," Goebel said. "We're staying away from doing any construction in that area for now."
Goebel said the repairing of the highway has been "extremely frustrating."
Goebel looks to resume repairing the U.S.-50 portion around Indigo sometime in October. Crews will begin to repair the potholes that still exist on both sides going east and west on the highway.
