Unruh attends Grandparents Day at Hesston College

The REA annual meeting was held Tuesday evening at Centre High School. Some of those attending the supper and business meeting from this area were Ben and Lenora Goentzel, Marcella Unruh, Lola Redger, Helen Bishop, Elmer and Ann Bartel, Harry and Verna Decker. Mary Christiansen and her twin sister, Margaret Noone of Kansas City, were also in attendance. Margaret has been visiting in the area, and together they went to visit Tom Christiansen in Florida recently.
Dora Unruh spent Tuesday at Hesston College with her granddaughter, Lisa Enns. It was Grandparents' Day, and in the evening they attended a banquet together.
Sunday evening, the April 11 birthday of Lisa Enns and the April 14 birthday of Jim Enns was celebrated at the Enns' home with a supper and cake and ice cream, together. Guests were Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan and Kyle, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Lauren and Lou Enns, Ashley Claassen, Darren Ens, Ron and Dora Unruh, the honorees and the hostess, Brenda Enns.
Bruce Dirks has been conducting meetings at the church in Yuma, Ariz., for past week. He returned home on Monday evening.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe attended church services at Alexanderfeld in rural Hillsboro on Sunday. They were dinner guests of the Abe Enszes together with the Mark Wiebe family, the Glen Ensz family, and Lisa Redger.
Harry Decker sang in the Kansas Mennonite men's chorus that gave a program late Sunday afternoon at Presser Hall in Lindsborg.
Wendell and Linda Wedel left Thursday for Gentry, Ark., where they attended the funeral services on Friday for Linda's sister, Lois (Tim) Hoschstetler. They spent some time on Saturday and Sunday visiting with other family members who had come form a distance, especially sisters from California and Mississippi. She visited her mother at Fredonia, before returning home late Sunday evening. Our sympathy is extended to the Wedels.
The Merlin Wiebes had the following as their Sunday dinner guests, Cheryl Dirks and family, John and Ethel Steiner and Randall, Jerald and Rhonda Koehn and family.
Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, and Kyle were Sunday dinner guests at the Loren Funk home in rural Hillsboro. The Funks hosted the post Easter gathering of the Ed Funk family.
John and Esther Christner and three boys from Oak Hill were Sunday dinner guests of Brad and Joyce Dirks.
Kris and Carolyn Decker, Will and Janie of Charleston, N.C., have been visiting their parents, Merle and Kathy Decker in Hillsboro, and relatives in the area. On Wednesday, the Merle Deckers, Kris Decker, the Harry Deckers and John, all had dinner at the Main Street Café in Durham. Then on Thursday, they were dinner guests in the home of the Harry Deckers. On Saturday evening, the extended Decker family had a wiener roast in honor of the Kris Decker family at the Decker farm where Kris grew up. Early Monday morning, the Harry Deckers went to Hillsboro to say goodbye to their grandchildren before they left for their home.
