Vandals damage picnic tables in Lost Springs

Unknown individuals jumped on, pushed, and rolled a picnic table causing damage to the top and braces sometime between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sept 21 at 100 Chicago Ave., Lost Springs. The property, belonging to Leslie Kitchenmaster, Lost Springs, is valued at $150, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.

An individual was stopped by Undersheriff Randall Brazil at 5:41 p.m. Sept. 25 at Third and Santa Fe Street in Marion for speeding. The individual had a suspended Kansas driver's license, and was arrested.

A driver was stopped by Undersheriff Brazil at 1:50 a.m. Sept. 27 on U.S.-50 at milepost 289 for failure to signal while changing lanes. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Two individuals entered Johnson's General Store, Florence, at 9:25 p.m. Sept. 26. One person paid for fuel as the clerk observed the other taking food items and leaving the store. Items taken were valued at $2.58, reports Deputy Aaron Waddell.

Unknown individuals drove through an electric fence wire onto a field sometime between 9 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 20 at 1050 Jade, Hillsboro. Damage to the fence wire, steel posts, insulators, and ground is valued at $600, reports Deputy Schmidt. Randall M. Eitzen, Peabody, is the owner of the property.

Union Pacific Railroad let cars, waiting for a train, stand over 20 minutes at 10:55 a.m. Sept. 21 The train blocked three intersections, two being within one-half mile of town. The blockage occurred at 3rd and F, 1st and D, and Pawnee and 350th, Ramona, reports Deputy Schmidt.
