Varsity tennis team takes second at Circle

The Hillsboro High School varsity tennis team finished second at the Circle Tournament April 15 at Towanda.

Teams in the tournament included Valley Center, Hillsboro, Haven, Circle, and Nickerson.

Sophomore Kyle Kroeker took second place in #1 singles, and sophomore Robert Jost took fifth place in #2 singles.

Sophomore Macy Fadenrecht and senior Justin Hein placed third in #1 doubles. Sophomore Peter Fast and senior Luke Lilly placed second in #2 doubles.

The junior varsity tennis team traveled to Lindsborg to compete in the Viking Invitational JV meet April 17. The #1 doubles team of Luke Lilly and Michael Fisher defeated Hesston 8-3 and Sterling 8-3, losing to Hesston 8-3.

Junior Michael Bosworth, playing #2 singles, defeated Sterling 8-6, losing to McPherson 8-1 and Hesston 8-0.

The #2 doubles team of freshmen Caleb Barkman and Adam Dirks defeated Sterling 8-5 and lost to Hesston 8-3 and McPherson 8-7 (7-4).

The varsity team will compete again April 27 in the Hesston Invitational. Game time is 3 p.m.
