Vehicle stolen from Centre recovered in Missouri

Sometime between 7:15 p.m. Nov. 23 and 8 a.m. Nov. 24, individuals took a vehicle without permission from Centre High School. The vehicle was registered to Paul Nicholas Potocnik, 512 North Topeka, Lincolnville. The individuals and vehicle were apprehended in Missouri. The vehicle was valued at $4,000, reports Deputy Starkey.

Individuals entered a garage at 687 310th, Durham sometime between 8 a.m. Dec. 25 and 5 p.m. Dec. 27. The garage is property of Donald Eugene West, 676 300th, Durham. An unknown number of antique tools were removed. The tools were valued at $100, reports Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Mary F. Hathaway, Wichita was eastbound on U.S.-50 just west of Florence at 2 a.m. Dec. 30. A light in the truck told her a tire was getting low. When she checked the right rear trailer tires, she could hear air leaking. She continued to Emporia to have the tires fixed. The repairman found two .22 caliber slugs in the tires. Deputy Whitwell states the tires were valued at $640.80.

Sometime between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 9 p.m. Dec. 23, individuals entered the property of Tiffany Troutt, 204 East Chicago, Lost Springs. Three puppies were taken and another puppy was killed and left at the scene, reports Deputy Larry Starkey. The pit bull puppies were valued at $800.

A driver was stopped by Undersheriff Randal Brazil on U.S.-56 at milepost 295 at 8:28 p.m. Dec. 31 for crossing the fog line and failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence.
