Verna R. Koehn

Verna R. Koehn, 86, of McPherson died March 11, 2005, at Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson.

Born Oct. 9, 1918, in rural Goessel, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Anna (Dalke) Abrahams.

She attended Gordon Elementary School in rural Goessel and graduated in 1937 from Goessel High School in Goessel.

On Sept. 10, 1939, she married Ormand L. Koehn in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and worked for Memorial Hospital as a nurse from 1978 to 1985 in McPherson.

She was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ormand; and a son, Jerry Lynn Koehn.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Anderson of McPherson and Joyce Benning of Moundridge; son, Jim Koehn of McPherson; brothers, Norman Abrahams, Newton, Raymond Abrahams, Hillsboro, and Charles Abrahams, Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at First Mennonite Church in McPherson with Pastor Leonard Wiebe and Pastor Phil Radatz officiating. A private graveside service at Emmanuel Bible Church Cemetery in Galva preceded the memorial service.

Memorials have been established with Bethesda Home Special Care Unit, Goessel' The Cedars, McPherson, and Hospice Care of Kansas, all in care of Gidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid Street, McPherson.
