Victoria Russell

Victoria Lynn Russell, 52, of Hillsboro died Nov. 23, 2002, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

Born Aug. 11, 1950, at Pratt, the oldest of four children, she was the daughter of Arvin and Delores (Atkinson) Unruh. They survive and live in Canton.

In 1968, she graduated from Canton High School. She later attended Pratt Community College for one year.

On June 7, 1969, at the Methodist church in McPherson, she married Ted Russell. The couple moved to Hillsboro, where they lived for 33 years.

She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.

She worked at Hillsboro Elementary School and the former Mennonite Brethren Bookstore. Most recently, she was a receptionist at PMA-Hillsboro Family Practice Clinic.

She enjoyed bowling and collecting cup and saucer sets, angels, and ornate boxes.

Survivors include her husband of the home; parents; sons, Jason Russell and wife Kayla of Wichita and Josh Russell and wife Corissa of Hesston; daughter Jenny Russell of Kansas City; brothers, Mark Unruh of McPherson, and Tracy Unruh of Galva; sister Melissa Sechler of McPherson; and one grandchild, Makaiya Russell of Hesston.

Services were held Wednesday morning at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. There was a private family burial.

Memorial funds have been established with the American Cancer Society or Central Care Cancer Center of Newton.
