Victory at home for Trojan wrestlers
Staff writer
A home dual for Hillsboro High School wrestlers proved fairly easy victories for the Trojans, according to head wrestling coach Scott O'Hare.
The team defeated Haven 54-15 and Smoky Valley 75-6 last Thursday in Hillsboro.
"I knew going in that these should be a couple of fairly easy dual victories for us only because both teams are down in numbers and are not able to fill the 14 weight classes," said O'Hare.
O'Hare told the team before the duals that they should win on the scoreboard easily, but that he wanted the team to win on the mat as well.
"I didn't want to win because of the points we get in forfeits," said O'Hare. "I wanted to win based on the matches we actually wrestled."
This was the team's only home meet of the season, and the team didn't get to wrestle as many matches as O'Hare would have liked in front of the home crowd.
Despite the number of forfeits, O'Hare says the team performed well, and only lost four matches in the duals.
"These were a couple of good team victories for us, and it gives us some momentum going into the Southeast of Saline dual tournament this weekend and into the league tournament next weekend," said O'Hare.
