Volunteers finish projects during Tabor Tool Time
The 10th annual Tool Time event at Tabor College brought more than 30 alumni, friends, parents, and current students to campus this past weekend.
Volunteers worked a combined total of nearly 300 hours to complete various projects, including painting, concrete pouring, and tree trimming.
Steve Berg, Tool Time director, said all the projects were completed.
Crews of painters, including the Transitions Sunday school class from 20 Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, filled two homes and a women's residence hall to paint interior walls. A crew of exterior painters was on hand to paint the exterior of the concession stand at Reimer Field.
A shot put ring was assembled, then concrete poured. For Dave Kroeker, head track and field coach at Tabor, this had been a project in the works for a few years. The existing shot put ring was completed during a previous Tool Time.
After the January ice storm, many of the trees suffered and were in need of trimming, so some volunteers with tree trimming experience were placed in charge of this project.
The final project was gluing pipe for an electrical line near the tennis courts.
"I appreciate each one of the volunteers who generously gave of their time and talent to increase the beauty and value of the Tabor campus," said Berg.
