WEDDINGS: Schmidt, Peters
Renae Schmidt of Whitewater and Jason Peters of Hesston were married July 27, 2002, at Grace Hill Mennonite Church in Whitewater. Rev. Norma Duerksen, aunt of the groom, of Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio, officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Jeanne Schmidt of Whitewater. The groom is the son of Delbert and Janine Peters of Goessel.
The bride wore a soft ivory chiffon dress with an A-line skirt and sweep train. The v-neck bodice, with an illusion back, was edged with pearls and embroidery. She carried a cascade of white roses, daisies, limonium, freesia, delphinium and ivy.
The maid of honor was Jill Schmidt of Whitewater, sister of the bride. Attendants were Jason Schmidt of Whitewater, brother of the bride, and Melissa Lamb of Rochester, Minn.
The best man was Patrick Flaming of Newton. Attendants were Yvette Peters of Goessel, sister of the groom, and Kent Peters of Goessel, brother of the groom.
Musicians were Karen Schlabaugh of Newton, piano; Karen Unruh of Goessel, organ; Brooke Fischer of Hutchinson, violin; David Baker of Hillsboro, guitar and vocalist.
Ushers were Zac Bartel of Great Bend; Jeremy Entz of Whitewater; Russell Entz of Whitewater; Monty Graber of Newton; Peter Schlegel of Goshen, Ind.; Mark Symns of Boulder, Colo.; Brady Peters of Goessel; and Nicholas Peters of Goessel.
Guest book attendants were Katrina Jones of Jewell and Suzy Lichti of Newton.
Gift attendants were Creigh Bartel of Newton; Landon Bartel of Newton; and Daniel Penner of Fountain Hills, Ariz.
Rod and Linda Peters of Goessel and Randall and Rachel Schmidt of Eudora hosted the reception held at the church. Reception attendants were Krista Abrahams of Goessel; Kara Dixon of Topeka; Sheryl Fowler of Wichita; Stacey Goering of Newton; Rachel Hostetler of Dallas, Texas; and Kendra Stuever of Wichita.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Goessel High School and a 2001 graduate of Bethel College in North Newton with a bachelor's of arts degree in music. She is a vocal music teacher at Santa Fe Middle School in Newton.
The groom is a 1996 graduate of Goessel High School and a 2000 graduate of Bethel College with a bachelor's of arts degree in mathematics and music. He is a math teacher at Hesston High School in Hesston.
After a wedding trip to Arkansas, the couple is at home in Hesston.
