What s right with Hillsboro?

Inspired by the Top 10 lists being written by members of the Hillsboro City Council, who've been busy listing things that need to be fixed to improve the city, we thought we'd weigh in with a list of our own.

Since we haven't been living here long enough to have a handle on what's wrong in Hillsboro, we thought we'd make a list of things going right.

And because we buy our ink by the barrel, we can make the list as long as we like.

So, with all due respect to our elected officials, these things aren't broke, so don't fix them.

Our industrial park actually has industries working in it.

Our sports complex diamonds are great, thanks to Matt and Steven.

Our aquatic center rocks around the clock, thanks to Jodi and her staff.

Our museums are vibrant and active, thanks to Stan and his volunteers.

Our public school district gets more impressive by the day.

Likewise Tabor College.

And downtown Main Street.

Our municipal golf course.

Our hospital, and long-term care unit.

Our local co-op.

Our churches.

Our family farms, and our rich top soil.

Our farmers' market.

Our 4-H clubs.

Our small business owners.

Our drug free, gang free streets.

Our Little League coaches.

Our summer drama camp.

Our youth pastors.

Our demolition derby.

Our civic clubs.

Our volunteer firefighters and EMTs.

Can you think of others?

Sure you can!

Make your list and send it to Box 10, Hillsboro KS 67063.
