Wiebe, Heathcock exchange wedding vows

Brett Wiebe and Mike Heathcock, both of Henderson, Nev., were married Dec. 31, 2004, at Green Valley Christian Center in Henderson.

The bride is the daughter of Gordon and Karen Wiebe of Hillsboro. The groom, originally from Bulverde, Texas, is the son of Joe and Linda Heathcock of Jacksonville, Fla.

The bride's sister, Cameron Kalua from Henderson, was the matron of honor, and Carrie Hazell, from Atascadero, Calif., was her bridesmaid.

Cody Heathcock, the groom's son, served as best man. Flower girl was Kiersten Kalua, the bride's niece.

Scripture was read by the father of the bride, and a poem for the couple was read by the mother of the bride. Providing special music was guitarist and vocalist Ben Bartel, cousin of the bride from Fresno, Calif.

The bride wore a strapless champagne gown with a beaded bodice and a sweep train. Her finger-tip veil was embossed with pearls and crystals. She wore a ring fashioned from the wedding ring of her grandmother, Violet Bartel, from Shafter, Calif. She carried a bouquet of maroon roses entwined with ivy and eucalyptus leaves.

Following the ceremony, a wedding cake and coffee bar reception was held at the Green Valley Christian Center. Reception hostess was Sandy Bartel, aunt of the bride, from Shafter, Calif. Reception assistants were Nancy Bartel, cousin of the bride, and Eveline Bartel, aunt of the bride, both from Prather, Cali. Helping with photography was Larry Bartel, uncle of the bride, also from Prather, Calif. Special guests attending included Carol and Craig Stubblebine from Claremont, Calif., aunt and uncle of the bride.

The bride graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1994 and Azusa Pacific University in California in 1998. She is employed by the state of Nevada as a social work supervisor and is enrolled as a graduate student in social work at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

The groom graduated from Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, Texas, in 1990 and attended Texas A & M University. He is employed as a union electrician in Las Vegas and will graduate from the union electrical apprenticeship program in May.

The couple, at home in Henderson, enjoyed a brief honeymoon at Mount Charleston, Nev., and are planning an extended honeymoon to Italy in the fall.
