Wilbur G. Schroeder

Wilbur (Bill) G. Schroeder, 96, Emporia, died Feb. 6, 2005, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Born June 10, 1908, in Hillsboro, he was the son of Gerhard and Anna (Bartel) Schroeder. On June 27, 1935, he married Lola Mercedes Moritz in Abilene. She preceded him in death Nov. 3, 1985, at Bentonville, Ark.

He owned and operated Navrats Office Supply in Garden City for 30 years, retiring in 1975.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, Moose, and American Legion in Garden City and Bella Vista, Ark., and a member of United Methodist Men.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Edwin Schroeder and William Schroeder; sisters, Elma Funk, Ruth Peters, Josie Toews, and Nettie Anderson.

Survivors include son, Lee Schroeder, Emporia; daughters, Karen Tate of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vicki Estes of Sikeston, Mo., and Karla Crocker of Stigler, Okla.; sister, Verna Pankratz of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark. Burial of the cremains will be at Benton County Memorial Park, Rogers, Ark.
