Wilma Gayle

Wilma L. Gayle, 93, of Florence died Oct. 14, 2002, at Marion.

Born June 12, 1909, in Weleetka, Okla., she was the daughter of Jewel and Lela (Damron) Lindsay. She grew up in rural Oklahoma.

She married Bartlett Gayle in 1928 at Tulsa, Okla. He preceded her in death.

They spent two to three years in the Dutch East Indies with the oil industry. Later, they moved to Oklahoma where they farmed. She worked as a key punch for IBM at Cessna, spending time in New York. She also worked as a caregiver. She had lived in Florence for 40 years.

Survivors include a son, Robert Gayle of Florence; a daughter, Sister Carol Sue Gayle of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Jean Ball of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were held today at Holy Family Catholic Church in Florence with Father Steve Gronert officiating. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Florence. A memorial has been established with Florence Ambulance Service.
