Women take second in Tabor meet

The windy conditions did not deter Tabor women's track team which placed 2nd out of 14 teams and the men who placed 6th at the Tabor Invitational track meet April 14. The track meet included a strong field of NAIA and junior college competitors.

Individual champions for Tabor included Angela Jost in the women's steeplechase with a time of 13:08; women's 4x800 relay, 10:35; Ashlee Helmley, long jump, 16'1"; Tamara McCarren, shot put, 39'9", discus, 128'1", and hammer, 131'6". The men's 4x800 relay took first with a time of 8:16.

"All in all, it was a good meet for both teams in very stiff competition," said coach Dave Kroeker. "I thought we competed very well on the track and in the field."

The track team had a number of personal best performances.

"We are going into the final several weeks of the season," Kroeker said. "We will be gearing up for the KCAC meet at Southwestern in a couple of weeks and are starting to peak at the right time."

The next action for the Tabor tracksters will be Saturday at Winfield in the Southwestern Relays.
