A World War I artillery shell that a western Marion County family had for 50 years was safely blown up Monday at the sheriff’s department by an ordinance disposal unit from McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita.

Groundskeeper Harold Stultz, 53, fired for texting a threat to shoot up the Tabor College campus, has been arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat that led to the campus being evacuated last week.

Publisher John Roberts announced last week that the Herington Times newspaper would close this week after 127 years. The Times employed three full-time and two free-lance staff members.

Diane Stubblefield is selling an ear hook kit called Lobes O’Fun that allows purchasers to make custom earrings by attaching any of 300 included beads to the hooks.
