This week marks the end of the school year for high school seniors across the county. They will participate this weekend in commencement exercises.

Jim and Bernice Beach are celebrating 25 years of ownership of HRK Warehouse at 109 N. Roosevelt St., Marion. Support from the community and area have kept the Butler County couple coming back to Marion every weekend to operate their business. An open house is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the store.

A new shipment of concrete rhinos has been delivered to Marion. A few still are available for purchase. For more information, contact the Marion Chamber of Commerce office.

The cast and crew of Marion High School’s “Beauty and the Beast” continued a storied tradition this past week by being nominated for 11 Jester awards by Music Theatre of Wichita. Students nominated included Brett Billings, Hank Collett, Lucy Collett, and Brady Hudson along with the cast and crew, Kevin Moler for outstanding musical direction, and Janet Killough for outstanding director.

Advance tickets for an 8 p.m. Aug. 31 concert in Florence by Michael Martin Murphey, America’s No. 1 cowboy music star, will go on sale this week. Diamond W Wranglers will be the opening act at 6:30 p.m.
