Marion County Treasurer Jeannine Bateman has been named 2009 Betty J. McBride Kansas Outstanding Treasurer.

Marion Senior Center is taking reservations for Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre’s new comedy, “Love, Sex, and the I.R.S.”
A mural of Father Emil Kapaun, created by Wendy Lewis, will be unveiled today at Newman University, Wichita. The 12-foot mural, four years in the making, is the latest work in the Wichita Diocese to honor the Pilsen native whom the Vatican is considering for sainthood.
Marion Youth Advancement Campaign is working with the city to establish a downtown youth center.
It wants to open the center to give teenagers something to do, but some teenagers don’t think they need a youth center.
“That would be great for the younger kids, give them place to hang out,” Logan Richmond said. “We already have our hangout spot.”
