Celebrate the beginning of a New Year at the 2009 ball drop New Year’s Eve. Gather at the Marion City Library lawn at 11:45 p.m. to watch the drop and enjoy an annual fireworks display.

Marion City Council approved an incentive package Monday evening for Spur Ridge Veterinary Clinic to relocate from Florence to Batt Industrial Park of Marion. The veterinary clinic is owned by Brandon Kraus and has been in Florence for several years.

Marion Elementary School recently honored 16 students of the month who most exemplified being responsible, respectful, and doing their best. Students were Cade and Garrett Alleven, Kennedy Fahey, Devin Hamm, Monica Harrison, Eli Hett, Shayla Kline, Brandon Lange, Justin Leis, Laura Savage, Preston Schneider, Tori Smith, Lindsey Sigel, Colleen Steele, Kalie Waner, and Larry Ziammermann.

Brothers Jared and Jason Hett of Marion are playing on the same basketball team for the first time since the 2003-’04 season. Jason, a freshman, joined his senior brother on the Tabor College basketball team this year. Gary and Jo Hett of Marion are the brothers’ parents.
